Spring Creek Community Center - Digitize the Hallway Project (Jan 20th)

Preserve and Archive Spring Creek Community Center Hallway Exhibits

Event Date: January 20th

Location: Spring Creek Community Center (Gymnasium)

Time: 10 AM - 3 PM

Reward: Participate and receive a $50 gift certificate to Trust General Store & Cafe, plus enjoy a complimentary lunch.

Are you passionate about preserving history and community heritage? Join Rare Bird in a unique opportunity to digitize the photos, exhibits, and posters lining the Spring Creek Community Center hallway. Your assistance will play a crucial role in making these invaluable resources accessible online.

What's the Task?

We are looking for four enthusiastic individuals to help us capture the essence of our community's history using smartphone apps. You'll receive a brief training session on how to use the apps and label the digitized items from the hallway exhibits. Your task will include naming the captured images and categorizing them by various artifact types. For example, distinguishing between items related to schools and those connected to families or other organizational affiliations. Additionally, we aim to tag the images with the last names of individuals featured in the photos.

Why Does This Matter?

By participating in this project, you're contributing to the preservation of our community's rich history. Your efforts will make these digitized resources accessible through the Spring Creek Community Center website, with plans for a phase two expansion to the Madison County Public Library website. Help us make our heritage come alive for current and future generations!
