Mountain Bound and the Life I Found by Tom Hare

We bought our farm from Tom Hare and Judie Hansen. Tom still lives up the road and has become a great friend. He is first class raconteur and and teller of stories and we are happy to integrate him into telling some of the history of this plot of land we live on now. Tom published these blog post into his first book earlier this year and the book Mountain Bound and the Life I Found is available on Amazon.com.

Music Makers of the Blue Ridge (Bluegrass Roots) Reunion

Rare Bird Farm was happy in 2023 to produce a special reunion event featuring acclaimed filmmaker David Hoffman. The event reconnected Hoffman, whose groundbreaking documentary film “Music Makers of the Blue Ridge” made in 1965 captured the essence of Appalachian Music, with the community he first visited over 60 years ago. This event was made possible with the generous help of the Madison Tourism Development Association.
