Rare Bird - Event FAQ
Where is the festival? How do I get there?
Rare Bird Farm is located on Hwy. 63 between the townships of Trust and Luck, NC. From Asheville, you take New Leicester Hwy. (Hwy. 63) straight to us (approximately 40 minutes northwest of Asheville. You can also come from the north on Hwy. 209 (we are about 25 minutes from the town of Hot Springs). Or you can come from I-40 on Hwy. 209 from Waynesville (about 40 minutes).
Will there be food onsite?
Yes. Though you can bring your own food, we will have a mobile kitchen (with amazing food!) that will operate the following hours:
Friday May, 20: 4-7 PM (dinner)
Saturday May 21: 8-10 AM (breakfast and coffee), 11:30-2 PM (lunch) and 4-7 PM (dinner)
Sunday May 22: 8-11 AM (brunch)
Will there be beer and wine for sale?
No. All events are BYOB as Madison County (in which Rare Bird is located) is a dry county. The closest alcohol sales are about a 30 minute drive from the farm. We figure this BYOB policy will save most attendees a pile of money. No overpriced alcohol like most festivals.
What time do doors open for the venue? What time is check out?
For weekend festival events, doors open at 1 PM on Friday and check out is 2 PM on Sunday. For campers and guests, this means breaking down your camp and being out of the parking lot by check out time. Tent sites (platforms and primitive) are first come first serve.
How does parking work?
We have a main parking lot and several satellite lots that are all accessible during the festival, but less cars is better. If you are traveling with a group please consider carpooling.
How does ticketing work?
You will receive an email receipt after you purchase your tickets and camping. When you arrive at the venue, you will check-in with a picture ID and be given bracelets for you and your party. These bracelets will be your pass for the weekend. With only 150 attendees in total we expect check in to be fast and simple, but arriving early is always a good idea to avoid crowds.
Are day tickets available?
Camping is not currently required to attend weekend events. Attendees can purchase day tickets to attend both the Friday night and Saturday events.
What are lodging/camping options?
We have ~25 tent sites and 3 group camps to complete your weekend experience. For more information on camping and lodging, see our Camping at Rare Bird Farm page. Tent sites (platforms and primitive) are first come first serve.
Are pets allowed?
We love our furry friends more than anybody, but for now no pets are allowed at the weekend events. We intend to do pet-friendly shows in the future.
What is your COVID policy?
For event venues COVID protocols are constantly shifting. Rare Bird Farm will follow guidance in place at the time for the state of North Carolina and Madison County. There are no refunds due to COVID policies.
What is your refund policy?
Currently we are not offering any refunds (including COVID). Please be sure about your plans before you buy your tickets.
